Gamescom 23: Nightdive strikes again, developing a remaster of Star Wars classic Dark Forces

The original Dark Troopers will once again menace Star Wars fans, as a full remaster of Dark Forces is on the way from Nightdive.

A true Star Wars gaming classic

When you talk about marquee, iconic Star Wars video games, you have to have Dark Forces in that conversation. The shooter brought the sci-fi universe to the first-person genre for the first time, and introduced a host of heroes and villains. Some of those have seen new incarnations in the modern age too, and in mainline Star Wars canon, so it’s kind of a landmark game for a few reasons.

But that 1995 original will soon be giving way to a fully remastered edition, thanks to Nightdive Studios. Yes, we just told you about the developer’s new Turok 3 remaster just this morning, but you just can’t stop a good dev team.

Created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and fully remastered through our KEX engine, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster supports up to 4K at 120FPS and features advanced 3D rendering, modern gamepad support, trophies and achievements, and more! Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is coming soon to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). Stay tuned for a release date announcement later this year!

As you can see there, and unlike with Turok 3, there’s no launch date as of yet for Star Wars: Dark Forces. But stay tuned and have no fear, because whenever it does drop in, it’s likely to be a heck of a redux. Nightdive doesn’t exactly fool around with these, you know.
