Check out Hot Toys’ massive quarter-scale Iron Man gantry, complete with shellhead

Arguably the best era for Iron Man armors in the MCU, Hot Toys is about to bring to life a show-stealing piece with a Suit-Up Gantry 2 pack.

Just enough realism

As every MCU fan knows, Iron Man’s armors got increasingly… magical, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe rolled on. By the time the character’s arc came to a close in the Infinity two-parter, it seemed as alien/futuristic as anything else in any version of the Marvel U.

Whether you’re into that aspect of the hero though, is kind of up to your tastes. More than a few Marvel fans online have voiced preference to the original, much more grounded Iron Man from his solo films. And of course, that would include Iron Man 2’s version, which Hot Toys is running with for its latest piece.

The toy maker will be producing both a figure of the title character, plus his suit-up gantry, with was needed by the character to get his full armor in place. This specific figure will be cast in quarter-scale too, so it’s absolutely massive, especially when placed on the gantry.

Inspired by Iron Man 2, the Iron Man Mark IV With Suit-Up Gantry (Deluxe Version) by Hot Toys includes a stunning 1/4 scale gantry and an Iron Man Mark IV Collectible Figure.

The Iron Man Mark IV Collectible Figure features a new Tony Stark helmeted headsculpt, based on Robert Downey Jr.’s appearance in Iron Man 2. It also comes with an interchangeable helmeted head which has a light-up LED feature. The articulated armor reveals the detailed mechanical inner workings of the suit as well as hidden weapons. The Mark IV is skillfully painted with a metallic hotrod red and gold colorway.

The screen-accurate gantry has multiple LED light-up areas located on the platform and on the mechanical arms. The gantry is expertly painted, and intricate details such as realistic cables and wires can be seen throughout the piece. Articulated sections allow for a wide variety of posing options, and fans can even recreate the iconic grand entrance scene.

Showstopping indeed, as this is one 1/4 scale set that should make a serious impact in the midst of any Marvel collection. The pack is scheduled for release this very month (August ’23), and is still available for pre-order (hit the links above). It’s priced in at $1040 USD, though there is a way cheaper option that includes just Iron Man (no Gantry) for $595.

It’s worth noting though, that the full set is the only one available right now, and the solo figure is currently wait-listed.
