Jurassic World Evolution 2 expands again next week with new marine species DLC

A fresh round of downloadable content is arriving for Jurassic World Evolution 2, this time with an eye on aquatic dino-exhibits.

While they don’t get a heck of a lot of play, the seas of the ancient world were really just as interesting as its dry land. Sure you don’t get the likes of T-Rex’ and Apatosauruses, but you do get massive turtles, deadly flat-headed predators with needle-teeth, and members of the iconic Ichthyosaurus family. All of those and more are on the way to Jurassic World Evolution 2 next week, as the latest round of DLC dubbed the Prehistoric Marine Species Pack drops.

The pack features a total of four new beasts, as well as the “Lagoon Rock Platform”, so fans of prehistoric oceans can build out their dream enclosures.

• Archelon, whose name means ‘ruler turtle’ is the largest turtle ever discovered. With enormous flippers, Archelon moves swiftly through the water, using its hooked beak to catch fish. Despite its size, this Late Cretaceous species was able to float in the shallows, making it easy for guests to spot.
• Nimble predator Nothosaurus paints a contrasting picture, with its long, flat skull and menacing needle-like teeth. As seen in Universal Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks Animation’s hit Netflix show, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Nothosaurus is a species that first lived during the Late Triassic period.
• Players can also expand their park’s underwater species selection with Dunkleosteus, a powerful armoured fish from the Late Devonian period. Sporting a sharp jaw which opens and closes with immense force, Dunkleosteus cuts an intimidating figure as it stalks through its exhibit.
• Rounding out the pack is Shonisaurus, a graceful, round-framed Ichthyosaur hailing from the Late Triassic period. Despite its size, the Shonisaurus was an agile hunter of deep ancient oceans.

That’s a lot of watery content, but there’s even more. As mentioned, the new pack also loads up with a special enclosure addition in the form of the Lagoon Rock Platform. Placing that in with your Archelon and Nothosaurus will allow them to rest above the water, giving crowds of onlookers a better view.

While the Prehistoric Marine Species Pack isn’t a free addition to the base game, there is a complimentary update hitting right along with it. That includes the new Lagoon Viewing Dome and a replica of the San Diego Amphitheater, which can be added to any “sandbox” park you’re maintaining.

Also in the update is the addition of “Challenge Share Codes”, which are exactly what they sound like, allowing “players to set and share their own challenges”. And all of that is rounded out with the ability to “favorite” “most-loved skins, toggle dinosaur hostility towards guests on and off, and enjoy unlocked access to all sandbox maps”.

So whether you’re buying into the Prehistoric Marine Species Pack or just grabbing the update, there’s a decent amount of new stuff arriving for Jurassic World Evolution 2 on August 10th.
