Check out the first 30mins of Telltale’s comeback title, The Expanse

One of the bigger original sci-fi properties in the last few years, The Expanse is set to make a splash as the returning Telltale’s newest.

We’re back!

Actually ‘they’re back’ is more appropriate, since the neo-adventure gaming studio Telltale most definitely is. After taking a few years away and then reforming in 2019, the developer revealed that there would be a big name attached to that rebirth too. The Expanse was signed as that title, and in keeping with the company’s former model, it would also be a series with staggered releases of its chapters.

Now with the series’ debut already out there, and episode 2 landing this month, Telltale has a 30 minute-sized treat for fans. So if you’re not yet sold on what this title offers, hit ‘play’ on the app below and get an extended look, hosted by director Stephan Frost and “Camina Drummer” herself, Cara Gee.

The first new IP announced by Telltale since the company re-formed in 2019, The Expanse: A Telltale Series is set prior to the events of Alcon Television Group’s critically acclaimed and award-winning television series which streams on Amazon Prime Video. Players take on the role of Camina Drummer (played by actress Cara Gee in both the game and TV series), the XO of a scavenger crew on the hunt for a mysterious treasure on the edges of The Belt. As Drummer, players must deal with a mix of powerful personalities, square off against a bloody mutiny, explore locations beyond The Belt and, most of all, make tough decisions that will decide the fate of The Artemis crew. Scour shipwrecks, use mag boots to walk on walls and ceilings, and utilize Zero-G thrusters to float through sections of ships and the open expanse of space in the largest and most immersive exploration of any Telltale game to date.

Telltale press release

Ready to head into the great beyond? Chapter one of The Expanse: A Telltale Series is out now Xbox and PlayStation platforms, as well as the PC (via Epic). You might want to get to playing too, since Chapter Two “Hunting Grounds” is set to debut next week, on August 10th.
