Bloody, fast-paced FPS action is in store with supernatural FPS Trepang2, out now

If you remember the first-person shooters of the 2K’s fondly, you’re going to dig what Team17 and Trepang Studios have in store with Trepang2.

Is that… Mothman?

There’s a lot going on in this launch-look at Trepang2. Soldiers and spec-ops troopers are just the tip of the iceberg for FPS fans in this one, as you’ll also be facing twisted cultists and even a few otherworldly creeps.

A first-person shooter with an emphasis on fast-paced, “gun-fu” action, the brand new Trepang2 offers up ultra bloody gameplay and an extremely dark, supernaturally fueled story. Though that’s not all, as you can also expect a horde mode, allowing players to face off against waves of enemy troops in a war of attrition.

Trepang2 is specifically meant to be a throwback to the FPS’ of the early 2000’s, so if you played those then you should have an idea of what kind of action it has in store.

And if you didn’t, well just hit ‘play’ on the plugin below.

A spiritual successor to the fast-paced and over-the-top first-person shooters of the mid-2000s, Trepang2 pairs high-octane, first-person gun-fu gameplay with a devastating heavy metal soundtrack, as players embark on a supernatural journey of death, destruction, and corporate conspiracies. Stepping into the boots of a newly enhanced super soldier broken out from a government black site, they’ll arm themselves with an arsenal of weapons while mastering an array of newfound superhuman abilities, all the while hunted by their former captors and even more otherworldly foes.

Team17 press release

Along with the gunplay, and you can see there’s a heck of a lot of that, players will also have access to melee combat and enhanced abilities. You play as a super-soldier in Trepang2 after all, so you can do some pretty wicked stuff. Yes, there’s super strength and speed, but the moves and abilities you have dip into the supernatural, like time distortion and invisibility.

Ready to join the fight? Trepang2 is out now for the PC, via Steam.
