Sega’s globe-spanning strategy title Humankind is cooking on PC, with an expansion coming up. The pending console port though, not so much.
Oh the Humanity
Have you played Humankind? Essentially an empire-builder, Sega and Amplitude Studios’ strategy title had a twist, and tasked players with creating an empire that could not only stand the test of the millennia, but be the most famous of all.
Here’s a look at the title’s gameplay:
It launched to some acclaim, and is currently rolling into a brand new expansion pack, called Together We Rule. That will see the light of day on the game’s home platform on November 9th. As for the planned console port though, that’s gonna be a little longer than originally thought.
And when I say “a little longer”, I mean we have no idea when it’ll actually arrive. Today Sega confirmed the delay into infinity, saying that it’s being delayed til further notice, and issuing in part the following:
We apologise for the inconvenience but rest assured that SEGA Europe, Amplitude Studios and Aspyr are working hard to bring the best possible HUMANKIND experience to console players. We can’t give a timeframe on a new release date right now, but as soon as we are in a position to do so, we will let everyone know and we thank the community for their continued support and understanding.
Sega press release
In addition, anyone who pre-purchased the game via a digital storefront will have their money refunded. So no worries on that front. And as far as Sega is concerned, the company maintains that Humankind will launch eventually for both Xbox and PlayStation platforms. It’s just a question of when.
