By the Nine Realms, The Art of God of War Ragnarok is coming

Fans of God of War Kratos’ Norse adventures are in for a big year. Not only is the sequel coming up this fall, but so’s a lavish art book from Dark Horse.

A feast for the eyes

Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway, God of War has been almost completely reinvented. A much more mature and cinematic experience that it was in the original trilogy, Sony’s God of War has also entered the Norse realm. And with that has come a whole new look for both Kratos and the world that he inhabits.

If you’ve played the game, then you know just how startlingly different it is than the more Hellenic-influenced entries in the set. And you’re likely counting the days too, til this fall’s sequel Ragnarok is released. It does look like a winner, toting some excellent visuals.

Fans of those designs are about to get a treat too, with a newly announced art book from Dark Horse. No stranger to these kinds of volumes, Dark Horse has a full exploration of the game’s visual design planned out with The Art of God of War Ragnarök.

Dark Horse Books and Santa Monica Studio join forces to present stunning, never-before-seen concept art of the world, characters, creatures, and artifacts with The Art of God of War Ragnarök. See what adventures await in Midgard and beyond!

Dark Horse Books press release

The book will feature quite a presentation, featuring a hardcover presentation with plenty of concept art and “creative commentary” included. On top of that though, there’s also a Deluxe Edition that’ll also include a “faux leather clamshell case and cover, as well as two gallery-quality lithographs in a displayable portfolio.”

Both versions of the book will be out on November 29th in book stores, and on the 30th in comic shops. The standard is set to be priced at $49.99 USD while the deluxe will be $129.99.
