Titan Comics announces new Conan the Barbarian series

Leaving Marvel Comics in the dust, the legendary Conan the Barbarian franchise is heading to Titan Comics, for a new series beginning May 2023.

CROM!

If you haven’t been paying attention, there’ve been some big things happening with Conan. Well, big things as go Conan comic books anyway. And those “things” more or less add up to the IP taking flight from Marvel Comics.

Marvel got the license from Dark Horse, if you remember, and not all that long ago. That publisher’s take on him though, was a little… well it was a little odd for Conan. Yes, he had rough and tumble adventures, continuing Marvel’s Conan books from decades past (when they had the license first), but he was also worked into the Avengers and the Marvel Universe in general. As a fan myself, that never sat right.

So with that, let’s hope that this new announcement leads to a little more of an authentic experience for the Barbarian on the printed page. If you read the headline, then you know already, but yes Titan Comics will be taking over.

The publisher will be working with studio Heroic Signatures for the new venture, which will encompass much more than just Conan.

“We have been working with Titan for a year on the prose side and established a good foundation for expanding our business together. When it became clear that Heroic Signatures would publish our own comics it was natural to partner with a team that we have known for decades. Their expertise in publishing is stellar and we couldn’t be more excited to launch a barbarian horde of titles like Conan, Solomon Kane, Dark Agnes, and many more together.”

Fredrik Malmberg, President of Heroic Signatures

But while there are those other names involved, it all begins with Robert E. Howard’s legendary Conan. And the very first issue of that, is set to debut in May of 2023.
