Marvel’s new 1962 Omnibus to include the first appearance of Spider-Man and more

One of the comics included in Marvel’s latest time capsule, Amazing Fantasy #15 will be one of the books included in Marvel: June 1962 Omnibus.

When looking back at Marvel Comics history, June 1962 was a particularly big month. While the company published a number of books, June of ’62 saw the debut of one Peter Parker: Spider-Man.

Once considered Marvel’s biggest solo hero, Spider-Man was an instant hit with readers. So much so that he quickly departed the pages of Amazing Fantasy for his own book, before exploding in popularity over the following decades. So yeah, kind of a big month.

Of course, June 1962 saw a few other Marvel milestones as well. Those included:

• Thor first held aloft the hammer Mjolnir.
• Hank Pym donned his cybernetic helmet, becoming Ant-Man.
• The FF squared off against Namor and Doctor Doom. 
• Kid Colt mixed it up with the Circus of Crime. 
• Millie the Model got mixed up in more Hanover hijinks.
• Patsy and Hedy worked on their frenemy-ship. 
• Star-crossed lovers dealt with the ups and downs of romance, all while tales of horror and fantasy stories crept from the pages of titles like Strange Tales.

Now all of the above will be bound together, included in Marvel: June `1962 Omnibus. The sequel tome to Marvel: August 1961, June 1962 will include a bunch of big name classics.

And reflecting the company’s stable of comics at the time, it’s not all superhero comics.
