The Nick Spencer era comes to a close. Over 3 years of work wraps up this September, with Amazing Spider-Man #74, number 875 overall.
He read every issue you know
It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that writer Nick Spencer came onboard with Amazing Spider-Man. It’s actually been 3 years though, and it’s been a multi-year run that’s seen a whole mess of pretty big time storylines comes and go.
As Marvel reminds us, that included the likes of “Hunted”, “Sins Rising”, “Last Remains”, “King’s Ransom”, and of course “Sinister War”. Lots of big stuff in there, including the last arc’s battle of Sinister Sixes. It’s also a series that’s had some monster art talent providing the visuals. Pencilers like Ryan Ottley, Humberto Ramos, Patrick Gleason, Mark Bagley, and more were all a part.
Now that’s all coming to a close, as Spencer makes his way out of of the Spidey-verse with September’s issue #74. An issue that’s #875 in terms of legacy numbering, issue #74 ushers in “What Cost Victory”.
An 80 page, super-sized finale, “What Cost Victory” will feature Spencer of course, but also “Patrick Gleason, Mark Bagley, and Marcelo Ferreira and more”, in terms of art. While we know the lineup of talent, there’s no hint of the actual story on this one just yet. All we’ve got to go on is that ominous title, and the fact that Marvel says that it’ll be “full of surprising developments”. Though honestly, they always say stuff like that so who knows.
Amazing Spider-Man #74 hits the stands on September 22nd.
