If you’re waiting for the next-generation edition of SNK’s Samurai Showdown rebirth, it’s not too far off. The game arrives in March.
Draw swords
One of the classic fighting game series’ out there, SNK’s Samurai Showdown is back with a vengeance. The 2D fighter made its triumphant return for the Xbox One and PS4 in 2019, as a prequel to the original 1993 release. And since it’s launched, this new version has been rolling with updates.
A pair of Season Passes are available now for the game, with a third on the way. Those are packed with new fighters, including names familiar to fans of the series. Now Samurai Showdown is getting one very big update too, with an Xbox Series X|S version.
The next-gen Xbox copy of the game will run at 120fps, which should look very nice indeed. And as with a good number of games on Microsoft’s current lineup of consoles, those who own the Xbox One version will receive the Xbox Series X edition for free.
That will arrive via Smart Delivery, and should be automatic. Take a look at the new edition of the game in action below.
Samurai Showdown will be available both digitally and physically for the Xbox Series X, landing at retail on March 16th. If you’re waiting for the third Season Pass too, that’ll hit next month (February).
