Solasta: Crown of the Magister gets free PAX demo

It’s going to be a little over a month till tactical RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister hits the PC, but you can play part of it this weekend.

Taking the crown

I have to admit, this one flew a little under the old BG radar. But be that as it may, Solasta: Crown of the Magister is looking pretty great.

A tactical RPG, Solasta hails from French developer Tactical Adventures. But this is no generic quest, as it sports the Dungeons & Dragons license, and SRD 5.1 rules.

As you’ll see in the trailer below, it also might be one of the best-looking games of its kind out there.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a team-based adventure game where each character plays a critical role in the campaign and can be a hero. The dynamic and mysterious world features elements of verticality, allowing players to use their surroundings as an element of strategy. Players can position ranged characters on high vantage points or send their thief down into shafts and caverns to scope out what lies ahead. In Solasta: Crown of the Magister, light is a tool to explore the depths and hollows of dungeons or can be used as a weapon against the creatures of the dark, but if players aren’t careful, it will give away the party’s position to nasty creatures bent on their demise.

Press release

While Solasta’s Early Access edition won’t be hitting Steam on the PC for another month, you’ll get to play a demo of it this very weekend. The game will sport a free demo in conjunction with the PAX Online con that starts tomorrow and runs through the 20th.

Tactical Adventures will have a virtual booth all set up for fans. There they’ll be able to learn more about the game, as well as join the devs on their Discord server. Want to play that free demo? That’ll be available on Steam all through PAX.
