Horror meets the wild west in West of Dead

Twin-stick, horror themed shooter West of Dead has hit the open beta phase, bringing undead blasting action to the Xbox One and PC.

Lock and load

Cowboy boots, six-shooters, the American southwest… and flaming skulls? This is West of Dead, an action packed twin-stick shooter that goes heavy on western themes and the undead.

The game stars genre favorite Ron Perlman as the main character, and tasks players with blasting their way through legions of the damned.

West of Dead stars Ron Perlman (HellboySons of Anarchy, @perlmutations) as the voice of William Mason, a dead man awakened with only the memory of a figure in black, setting in motion a chain of events with truly mythic consequences. Evolving the twin-tick shooter genre by introducing unique tactical cover design, West of Dead throws you into the unknown, procedurally generated hunting grounds of Purgatory, where your skills will be put to the ultimate test. Shoot, dodge and slide through the hell-spawned filth of the underworld — and try not to die a second time.

Raw Fury

Eventually, West of Dead will be available for the PS4, Switch, PC, and Xbox One. It’s even on the way to the Xbox’ GamePass service, so you’ll be able to add it to your queue if you’re a subscriber.

That won’t happen till later in the year though. Right now you can pick it up for the Xbox or the PC, via Steam, as a part of both platforms’ preview programs.

You will have to act fast if you want to play though, since the game will only be open till the 24th of February.
