New overview trailer for Marvel’s Avengers released

A little more info and a much better look at some of the action in Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix was released today.

Taking AIM

Marvel’s Avengers has gotten its fair share of flak. From Square Enix and developer Crystal Dynamics, the game had a rocky introduction. Many fans pointed out that the Avengers themselves looked like poor imitations of the real deal.

Aside from the visual look of the re-imagined costumes, there wasn’t much to go off of in terms of gameplay either. We knew the evil scientific consortium AIM would serve as the villains, but that was about it. E3 however, offered a good look at improved designs on the core heroes, and some pretty cool action too.

Then came a very poorly worded announcement that Ms.Marvel would be the main character. That news of course, landed with a dull thud with fans questioning why a character that has a limited fanbase would be the star of a title that touted the likes of Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Hulk.

Now though, we have a better understanding of things. Ms.Marvel is present, and has an important part to play in the plot, but she sure isn’t the only hero that fans will get to play as though the bulk of the adventure. She’s just one of the first, in what’ll be an expanding roster.

Iron Man is seen in the trailer below. In it, we get a peek at armor upgrades, as well as different armors that you can suit him up in. Some are iconic too, so there could be a bevy of looks per playable character. All of that should be music to fans ears.

More to come

Also kind of awesome is the post-launch content. Square Enix promises a series of additions, spaced out over what they’re saying will be several years. This will bring new heroes, as well as new locations to play in, and presumably new story content. Pretty ambitious.

Marvel’s Avengers hits retail on May 15th, 2020.
