E3 2019: Xbox Briefing

This year’s Xbox Briefing had a ton of gaming content along with a few new announcements regarding the future of Microsoft and Xbox in the gaming future. It all started with a game about outer space.

After an extended trailer with plenty of gameplay from Outer Worlds, from Obsidian Interactive, Phil Spencer, vice executive president of Gaming at Microsoft, came out onto the stage. His message was that in the coming year, Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass will be transforming how gamers play games. From hardware updates to new ways to play on the go, Spencer and the team at Microsoft are doubling down on bringing games to everyone.

It started with the announcement of Xbox Game Pass for PC. Now more than 100 games will be available to play on PC. For just $1, you will receive access to the open beta that is available right now. In addition to the Game Pass for PC, Spencer also had a lot to say about the number of games Xbox wound up showing.

It was a day of discovery as Microsoft showed 60 games during the briefing. More than half the games shown today will be available on Game Pass. ID@XBOX continues to grow amid success. In just three years, the program has tripled the number of partnerships with developers.


The Future of Game is Now

The future of gaming begins with the next console from Microsoft, currently called Project Scarlet. This new hardware that will be released during the holiday season of 2020. The new hardware will be four times more powerful than the current Xbox One X. The development teams have been able to push this hardware to 120 frames per second (FPS). Along side cutting edge technology in the SSD, developers of Project Scarlet want to do away with load screens. In a complete 180 from when the Xbox One was announced as restrictive and isolated, the future of gaming for Microsoft is all bringing games to everyone.

Now comes the fun part of all the game reveals. The following reveals will be Xbox exclusives and will all be available through the Xbox Game Pass. Overall, it was a great show and theme for the show was proudly on display. The possibility of being able to game anywhere with XCloud, which is launching a beta this fall, will take gaming to the next level of accessibility.

Get To The Good Stuff

After the critically acclaimed start in Ori’s journey, Ori and Blind Forest, it was a matter of time before a sequel was developed. Now is that time with Ori and the Will of the Wisps. The new iteration in the Ori series still looks memorizing environment. There are also plenty of big monsters to try to avoid. Ori is coming to consoles on February 20, 2020.

There is a new way to experience Minecraft in Minecraft Dungeons. Choose a player and in typical Minecraft aesthetics, work your way through the new dungeons of Minecraft. This isometric view on Minecraft is new as players can team up with up to three other players to work together to defeat evil.

Forza Horizon 4 will also be receiving a new update that will have you breaking bricks. Forza and LEGO are teaming up for LEGO Speed Champions. This DLC will bring brand new content for Forza drivers. This expansion will be available starting this June 13th.

From Ninja Theory comes the next evolution of 4×4 combat arena games. The next game from Ninja Theory is something that is out of this world. A combat shooter that combines action adventure into a mix that shouldn’t work. But if the game is anything like the trailer, this could easily become the newest trend in area combat.

This is just a small sampling of the 60 plus games that were shown during the show. Xbox and Microsoft are making a strong push to be bring gaming to everyone. In a world that is trying to divide itselft, Microsoft is creating technology for the future of unification. And the future starts now.
