Take a deep dive in the underwater adventure Abzu, now on Switch

The deep is calling once again. Prepare for your dive, as acclaimed underwater exploration game Abzu has swum onto Nintendo’s Switch this week.

Getting lost in the deep

We reviewed Abzu on the PS4 a while back, and loved it. The indie title sets gamers on a quest to explore the great vast blue of the ocean. But this is no “toy”, as there are plentiful things to interact with and do in Abzu. That includes a mystery that unfolds as you play.

BG writer Robb said of Abzu “It’s gorgeous, it’s not overly-complicated, and it’s as deep as the big, blue sea. Simply put, it’s worth diving into” before tagging it with an impressive 82%.

And now, it’s come to Nintendo’s Switch.

ABZÛ is a beautiful underwater journey that immerses players in a vibrant ocean world full of mystery and bursting with colour and life. Playing as the Diver, you’ll discover hundreds of unique species based on real creatures and form a powerful connection with the abundant sea life. But this underwater world can be dangerous, broken and toxic – and your mission is to unlock the mysteries of the deep and change the world around you for the better.

If you get a title deja vu from that trailer, it might be because Abzu comes from the same people who did Journey. Developer Giant Squid Studios’ chief Matt Nava actually did Flower as well, so you can get an idea of what playing Abzu might be like.
