Titan Comics to carry on the Blade Runner name with new ongoing series

Missing Blade Runner after the sequel, 2049? titan Comics is hoping to fill in that gap in the pop culture landscape with its own ongoing comic series.

2049 and beyond

It’s not much of a secret that the Blade Runner universe has just barely been explored in the films. The original movie established quite a bit, but only in a general sense. We found out about replicants, hover cars, and a world that was weary, and maybe a little beaten down.

2049 came out just recently, after years of nothing at all, and went a little further. Though honestly, even with that, there’s still more mystery to the Blade Runner universe than there is exposition. But that’s about to change.

Thanks to Alcon Media Group and Titan Comics, Blade Runner is about to expand in a very big way. While we do know that the new book will be in-canon, there aren’t a whole lot of additional details as of yet.

Here’s what Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, and Titan Comics co-founders Nick Landau and Vivian Cheung had to say about the deal:

States Kosove and Johnson, “In partnering with the exceptional Titan Comics and Titan Books, we’re confident that the world of Blade Runner will continue to organically grow in a way that refuses to sacrifice the quality, tone and high standards of this beloved property.”

“We are extremely excited to be publishing Blade Runner comics and illustrated books,” said Titan publishers Nick Landau and Vivian Cheung. “The Blade Runner universe has barely been explored; there is so much more there. It’s an honour to be bringing this world to life in new ways for a new audience – and to reveal tales from that universe that you’ve never seen before.”
