Massive Metal Gear art tome on the way from Dark Horse

Rolling right along with another impressive-looking art book is Dark Horse. Metal Gear fans, get ready for a trip through one meaty collection of imagery.

A visual history of Metal Gear

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you won’t want to miss this one if you’re a Solid Snake junkie. Over the years, the series has had some stunning art associated with it after all, and this book is slated to be quite the collection of it.

The Art of Metal Gear Solid I–IV is set to ship in two volumes, both collected into one monster set. Inside, you’ll find a catalog of Yoji Shinkawa’s art. He was the director and illustrator behind much of the series. In this collection’s pages, you’ll find art from the original game, plus MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, and MGS: Peace Walker.

How deep does it go? Check out the official description from Dark Horse.

This definitive chronicle of characters, vehicles, and weapons is the ultimate companion to the tactical espionage and future warfare of Hideo Kojima’s celebrated Metal Gear universe, translated to English for the first time ever while leaving the original Japanese handwriting intact. Japanese publisher, Shinkigensha, is the original publisher of The Art of Metal Gear Solid I–IV.

Bound in one slipcase, The Art of Metal Gear Solid I–IV and Peace Walker Gallery Works and Studio Works is 800 pages of military-grade goodness and will cost you $79.99 USD. Oh, and if you’re wondering why there’s no MGSV included in all this, the answer is easy. There’s already an MGSV art book, and it’s out there right now if you’d like to pick up a copy.

As for The Art of Metal Gear Solid I–IV, watch for that on May the 8th, 2018.
