DST celebrates Alien Day (4/26) with stop-motion short, contest, and more

What would the last act of the Alien sequel look like played out with Diamond Select’s Minimates? Well thanks to Alien Day, you can find out (plus get a look at some new Minimates and enter a wicked contest).

Pretty neat that. There’s been a stop-motion short of DST’s Alien Minimates before, but this one kind of goes the extra mile for Alien Day. The little vid comes from the mind and talents of one Alex Kropinak, who was the brains behind Marvel’s What The…?! comics from way back, and is pretty clearly an Alien fan.

Keeping with the theme of Alien Day, Toys”R”Us’ latest line of exclusive Aliens Minimates should be in stores right now and will offer a new Ripley, Drake, and Apone. Oh, and that incredible looking glow-in-the-dark Xeno. So awesome.

One the way in a bit too, will be series 3 of the Minimates, which are seeing the finishing touches right now from DST. That set includes some badass mini-figs from the original film and the Dark Horse Comics classic Aliens: Genocide.

In all, you can expect to see: “Kane in his space suit with eggs and a translucent “phantom” Xenomorph from Alien, Lt. Gorman in his dress uniform with an attacking Alien Warrior from Aliens, and a two-pack of red and black Hiveworld Aliens, as seen in the classic Aliens: Genocide comic book mini-series!”

And finally, there’s the contest. You can take home a prize-pack loaded up with DST Alien-themed goodies today only – so you’ll have to hustle up with the entries! Fortunately, actually entering isn’t a hassle in the least. All you need to do is to take a snap of whatever Aliens Minimates that you currently own (it doesn’t look like they even have to be posed or anything).
