A retro double-dose of 3D platforming is heading to the Evercade family of consoles, with October’s Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack.
Banjo-Kazooie go handheld (and more)
Blaze Entertainment‘s Evercade line is preparing for one heck of an autumn. For those who haven’t been following the story, the home/portable line of consoles is heading into a monster new release season. Not only will a fresh console be joining the group with the Nexus, but there are a jumbo pair of new releases heading to stores as well.
The DOOM Collection might be the headliner there, as the cart will pack in both DOOM and DOOM II, along with a host of extras. Nevertheless through, there’s a 64bit era favorite that’ll be joining it on store shelves, with the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack.
That cart will present developer Rare‘s classic Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie in one neat little package. As you’d expect though, they won’t quite be the way that you might remember them. According to Blaze, both titles will be native “Evercade versions developed specifically for the platform”.
As to what that might mean, it shakes out to include performance, and maybe a mystery feature or two. According to the company, fans can look for the duo to come packing both performance boosts, as well as “Evercade-exclusive quality-of-life features”.
Falling for Evercade
As mentioned above, we’ve finally got a release date for the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack. Turns out that fans can mark their calendars for October 30th, 2026. Yes, that’s the same day that the Evercade Nexus and The DOOM Collection both arrive at retail. For those who’re going all in, it should make for one heck of a party.
We should also mention however, that the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack isn’t an exclusive to that new handheld. Blaze Entertainment says that the game will also run on “Evercade VS-R, Evercade Nexus, EXP-R, Alpha and HyperMegaTech! Super Pocket systems.”
There’s a lot that we like about Evercade, like the actual, physical cartridges and the full-color instruction booklets. But on top of that, the above-mentioned general-compatibility is another one of our favorite things about the line.
