Walk through the fundamentals of parkour in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Not too far off at this point, the next game in the Assassin’s Creed series takes fans to Japan, and offers some new traversal options.

Yes, it’s Naoe and Yasuke

We kind of feel like we have to highlight that we’re still talking about playing as the ninja called Naoe and the samurai Yasuke when it comes to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The open-world action game, which some fans thought was moved from 2024 in order to make sweeping changes, indeed does still star the above assassins. So set that aside right at the top.

Moving on from that point though, Ubisoft has unleashed a set of new videos along with a host of fresh details, all of which delve into the upcoming game’s version of the series’ iconic parkour. Shadows presents some innovation as to that movement system, including changes to stances, parkour up and down, dodging, and a grappling hook that looks like it should seriously change things up.

The new info was released as a post on Ubisoft’s site, and is quite lengthy. It focuses on Naoe, who’s the faster and more nimble of the pair, though it does seem as though Yasuke can do most of what she can, just slower. That makes sense since he appears to typically wear his armor. It’d be kind of tough to be weighed down by all that, and still be flipping around rooftops with grace.

Again though, the new info and videos are way too numerous for us to post here, so click on through to check it all out if you’re up for it. Assassin’s Creed Shadows arrives for PC and consoles on February 14th, 2025.
