Sega plans “Like a Dragon” Direct for this week

Yakuza fans looking for the next bits of info on the upcoming Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii have something to look forward to.

Updates ho!

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Sega as to the next chapter in the Yakuza franchise, but that drought ends as of this week. The publisher has revealed that a new Direct presentation is on tap for January 9th, that will focus on Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

If you haven’t been following along, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii sends Goro Majima to the paradisiacal isle, but all is not well. Seems he’s lost his memory. While that’s not great, Goro is pretty crafty, and quickly sets himself up as a pirate captain.

It’ll be up to series fans to guide him as he engages in battle on both land and sea, and searches for both lost treasure and his memories of a life that once was…

On board? If you’re a fan, you probably already were, and if that’s the case, then you won’t want to miss this week’s Direct.

The video will be a livestream, and will cover both updates and totally new content. The latter will focus on “new features for the upcoming modern-day pirate adventure” too, so even if you’re fairly well versed on what Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be offering, it should have something for you.

As to the ‘where and when’, Sega says to expect the show to kick off at 5pm GMT/6pm CEST (that’s 8am EST). Again that’ll be on January 9th, and you can check it out via Sega’s YouTube channel here, or by way of the publisher’s Twitch feed here.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is expected to hit both consoles and the PC on February 21st, 2025.
