January’s Immortal Thor #19 to feature 19 artists, in series of one-page Tales of Asgard

There’s trouble brewing in the pages of Immortal Thor, and with the thunder god away, 19 one-page stories are set to play out.

Ho!

Get ready for a trip through the realm of Asgard, and a return to the printed page for what’s presumably a lengthy list of Thor allies. That’ll all be included in a series of stories in Immortal Thor #19 this January, entitled the Tales of Asgard.

The issue will see Thor journeying to a far off star, to assemble resources in order to deal with “the looming threat of Utgard”. While he’s gone though, the realm isn’t still, and Marvel will be giving fans nineteen single page tales to fill in for the hero. Each of those will hail from series’ writer Al Ewing, who’ll be teamed with a different artist for all of the above.

Yes, that means the issue will have 19 artists to go along with the 19 stories. Each tale will factor in a mystery character as well, whose viewpoint they’ll all play out from. We don’t know who this “significant hero” (according to Marvel) from Thor’s past is, but audiences will find out in this month’s Immortal Thor #17.

While Thor is away gathering resources to deal with the looming threat of Utgard, IMMORTAL THOR #19 spotlights different characters from Thor’s legendary mythos in single-page stories, each drawn by a different artist. The stories will be connected by the mysterious viewpoint of a significant hero from Thor’s past who’s set to return in next week’s IMMORTAL THOR #17.
