Get up to speed with the new story trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

More Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 video content? We’re not complaining, as the series’ twisting narrative is explored.

What a tangled web

Unlike with pretty much all of the other Call of Duty sub-series’, Black Ops has alway reveled in the world of cloak and dagger. Heck, it’d be weird if it didn’t since the name actually includes “black ops”. For those who don’t know what that term means by the way, it’s all about operations that are not ‘official’.

The real world is replete with evidence that such ops have been pervasive throughout history, and it’s where Call of Duty: Black Ops lives. In the case of the series’ sixth outing, coming up later this month, we move forward a tad, out of the 80s and into the very gray world of the chaotic 90s.

And if all you played of the series was the recent Black Ops Cold War, then you’re going to want to watch the new video released by Activision. The drop is loaded with a full disclosure from 1961 on, covering all of the high-points of Black Ops‘ various entries.

That includes the sordid histories of the series’ main characters, Woods, Adler, Mason and even Hudson.

While that’s the lead-in, there’s a whole new world of shadows to explore in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The 90s sees the games move operations into a decade where there was only one real global superpower (the US, natch’), and the demise of the Soviet Union has seen power shift, and global terrorism grow. Of course, we all know the hideous series of events that would lead to.

Be that as it may, just how many real world happenings will play into the game’s story is still a mystery, though it pretty clearly does involve Saddam Hussein and at least the first Gulf War. Check out this trailer for some glimpses of that.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, complete with campaign, multiplayer, and zombies modes, arrives on October 26th, 2024. Look for it to hit the PC, as well as current Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
