Witchfire haunts Steam today, complete with a new update

Making the leap from Epic to Steam’s Early Access today is the impressive-looking Witchfire, which adds in new update with “The High Stakes“.

Fire it up

Shooter/RPG Witchfire has been out for a while now on the Epic Games Store, but developer The Astronauts is ready to expand its territory a bit, with a Steam launch. That happened today, September 23rd, with the title’s Early Access release.

That’s a general look at the game in action, but today’s version isn’t the same one that debuted on the Epic platform. Nope, Steam now has the loaded version that Epic sports now, with all of the various updates applied. And yes, as you can see from the above, that includes “The High Stakes”.

A new pack that adds “achievements, a new Witch Vault, and enhanced visuals across every region”, The High Stakes also drops a new weapon for Preyers to deal some pain with. That’d be the Striga, a stake launcher that’ll impale foes, and might even gib ’em. Ludicrous.

Just be aware that the Striga is a bonus of sorts, and is only meant for those who buy a copy of Witchfire while it’s in its Early Access period. So if you want one, you’ll have to buy in now. Fortunately it’s on sale right now, for the first 14 days of the game’s Steam launch. That’ll net you a cool 10% off the usual tag of $39.99 USD.

Thank you to our early adopters! To all of you who have participated in our Early Access so far: Thank you very much for your help in getting us to this point. Your feedback in our official Discord and beyond has been vital!”

Adrian Chmielarz, co-founder and creative director of The Astronauts
