Yet another Star Wars unboxing has emerged from Sideshow, as Hot Toys’ Grand Admiral Thrawn gets an in-depth look.

The arch-villain returns

Pretty easily one of the biggest villains to come out of the Disney era of Star Wars, is Imperial holdover, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Not that Thrawn is unique to Disney+’s series of offerings, not by a long shot. That’s because the character debuted way back in the old Expanded Universe days. Long a favorite place to play for fans, the multimedia EU grew Star Wars fiction in a big way before Disney’s acquisition of the property, and showcased stories that mainly came during and after the original trilogy.

But while Disney quickly folded the EU and declared it non-canon, the company has also been mining it liberally for its TV shows. Case in point, though there are many, is the aforementioned Thrawn. Disney brought the Grand Admiral across and into ‘official’ Star Wars canon, adding him first to Star Wars: Rebels, and then to the recently concluded first season of Star Wars: Ahsoka.

Thrawn serves as a main heavy (eventually) in both shows, and has become a fan favorite all over again for a demeanor that’s as cold as ice, as well as his calm and calculated tactics. And while we’ve gotten some figures of him already, Hot Toys is poised to release one of its famous collectibles soon.

Cast in 12″ scale, Grand Admiral Thrawn is heading to fans’ Star Wars shelves over the next few months, and Sideshow has unleashed another of its unboxing videos to celebrate.
