Check out the latest look at Commandos: Origins, as the game heads to Gamescom

In the works for a while, Commandos: Origins is looking spectacular in its latest trailer, as we get a look at some pre-Gamescom gameplay.

Take command

Commandos begins? Pretty much, as Commandos: Origins is an origin story for the classic series, which has been more or less dormant for a while at this point (unless you count remasters). The real-time tactical stealth action will bring the the Commandos back to WWII’s European front once again, as fans will learn how Jack O’Hara and the rest of the Allied team came together to battle the Reich.

Commandos: Origins delves into the beginnings of the Commandos’ journey. Players will venture into missions alongside legendary characters such as Jack O’Hara (The Green Beret) and Thomas Hancock (The Sapper), navigating through a World War II setting. The new gameplay trailer features intense action sequences, demonstrating various mission approaches and abilities of the Commandos, from stealth tactics hiding in the shadows to an aggressive playstyle utilizing a Flak-Vierling, witnessing spectacular explosions, and executing environmental kills.

Kalypso press release

Along with the impressive look at the game’s action, we’ve also got some additional news for series fans today. For starters, Kalypso will be bringing it to Gamescom’s Hall 7, and it will appear in playable form at the Xbox booth. So said fans should probably be on the lookout for a lot more info on the title, coming up shortly.

On top of that, Commandos: Origins will also be branching out from the already announced PC, and modern console releases. While Microsoft and Sony’s current consoles will still be getting the game, so will the Xbox One and PS4. And did someone say ‘Game Pass’? Yes, yes they did, as Commandos: Origins has been scheduled for the Xbox’ subscription gaming service on day one.

As for when that launch will be happening, we’re still unable to let you know. Kalypso says though, that fans can still be looking for it some time this year.
