Dead Island 2 getting a big new update this month, packing the return of New Game Plus and more

Those looking to get back into Dambuster’s zombie-slayathon Dead Island 2 will want to check out this month’s Patch 6.

Not dead yet

Now, to be fair, we’ve already seen a heck of a lot of post-launch support for Dead Island 2. We don’t want to give prospective players that there’s been a dearth of that, since Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios have released some pretty big downloadable drops for it, extending play quite a bit. But even so, it’s nice to see that there’s still more coming, even though the main bulk of the DLC has completed.

That’d be Patch 6, as this month’s new content arrival will actually bring quite a bit of new stuff to the game. Chief among that is the New Game Plus mode, which introduces new challenges, enemies, and skill slots, all wrapped up in a higher difficulty.

Along with that though, there’s also some fresh co-op action to partake in with Neighborhood Watch. And that new mode isn’t a one and done adventure either, as it’s been crafted specifically to encourage additional play-throughs with plenty of unlocks.

The update arrives on October 22nd, for all versions of Dead Island 2, and you can scroll down to get a look at the complete details.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of New Game Plus and their wishes have been answered. Players can now dive back into the heart of HELL-A, armed with their favorite characters, weapons and a whole new set of challenges.

With increased difficulty, new enemies and additional skill slots, the fight against the undead will be more intense than ever before.

Patch 6 new content doesn’t end here. Introducing Neighborhood Watch, a brand new cooperative horde mode that pits players against relentless zombie swarms. As members of the Bobcats, a fresh trio of College survivors, players must defend their frat house In Venice from relentless waves of zombies.

With each successful playthrough, players will face new challenges and unlock different abilities, original weapons and thematic skins, for a unique and exciting experience.
