The undead return in the first trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s zombies mode

Technically we don’t see any undead in this first trailer for Call of Duty’s new zombies installment, but there’s plenty of setup.

Dark Aether continues

One of the biggest additions to any modern Call of Duty title, the zombies are back for Black Ops 6. A continuation of the “Dark Aether” storyline, the upcoming sequel will bring players to what looks like a prison, on Terminus Island in the Philippine Sea.

It’s there that they’ll meet Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Mackenzie “Mac” Carver, Oskar Strauss, William Peck, and a newcomer, the original character of Maya Aguinaldo. Maya actually has an integral part of the plot too, as she’s out to find her brother. As for everyone else? They want Richtofen’s head on a pike.

Now, if you’ve been a lapsed fan, you might have some questions. More or less, the Requiem Team had managed to win the day. The group closed the dimensional rifts, sealing off the nether-world, at the expense of agent Samantha Maxis. Not that they were treated all that well after their win, as they were summarily arrested and shipped off to the aforementioned island prison by… Edward Richtofen, who was revealed to have been the Project Director all along.

Though Black Ops 6 Zombies does continue that Dark Ether storyline, it does so with a pretty big break in between. According to Activision, they break was six years, so you can imagine that Requiem is itching to get some payback. That’s just what players will be doing, along with digging into the motivations behind their new primary target.

You can read much more about all of the above here, on Activision’s official Call of Duty blog, including some hints at what info is coming up. While there’s no look at gameplay just yet, if you’re a zombies fan, it’s tough not to get pumped for what Black Ops 6 will serve up when it arrives for consoles and PC on October 24th, 2024.
