Landing just in time for Halloween, Grasshopper Manufacture’s cult hit Shadows of the Damned is coming back for a remaster.
Damn(ed)
A favorite around BG since it first arrived for the Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2011, Shadows of the Damned is quite the interesting game. An action affair at heart, SotD was developed by Goichi “Suda51” Suda and his company Grasshopper Manufacture.
The title sends players on an adventure through the netherworld, as a gunslinger who wields a nasty little living skull that can form into multiple weapons. Sound odd? Yeah, it is, but it’s also pretty great fun. And if you missed the original, or you played it to death and are looking for another run, then you’re going to love what NetEase Games has on tap for this coming Halloween.
Yes, SotD is getting a remaster, a Hella Remaster to be specific, and it’s coming packed with some additional content.
Included with the Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered edition will be:
New Costumes!
In addition to Garcia’s iconic jacket, “Purple Reign”, there are now four new costumes to choose from:
Placa Garcia, Ocho Corazones, Demonio Garcia and Kamikaze Garcia
Now includes New Game+ Mode!
A feature requested since the original release, the Hella Remastered edition includes a New Game+ mode! This mode carries your weapons and upgrades over from your last playthrough into a new game, jam-packing those replays with hella power.
60fps/4K Support!*
Hell has never looked so good. Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered lets you experience the game in silky-smooth 60 frames per second, as well as supporting resolutions up to 4K, allowing you to appreciate every bone fragment and blood splatter.
*Switch supports up to 30fps; 4K is supported on PS5 / Xbox X / Steam only.
NetEase Games press release
Ready to rock and roll with Garcia Hotspur? Well, again, you have a little while, so cool your jets. Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered won’t arrive til the scariest time of the year, landing on the PC, Switch, and current PlayStation and Xbox platforms this October the 31st.
If you just can’t wait to see more on the title though, you may want to check out the “Grasshopper Direct” presentation that’ll air in just a few days, on July 31st. The show will welcome in SotD producer Shinji Mikami, who’ll join Suda51 and other members of Grasshopper Manufacture. You’ll be able to check that out here.
