Bethesda unleashed The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road (and update 42)

Fans of The Elder Scrolls Online have a few more reasons to fire up the game today, leading with the Gold Road update.

All that glitters

A monster new chapter in the Elder Scrolls saga has dawned today, by way of Gold Road for Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Online. The pack serves up some 30 hours of play, within the new “zone of West Weald”. It’s there that players will find a fresh tale to explore and play through, presumably framed by the new Daedric Prince that also awaits.

Additionally, Bethesda says that fans will find “an exciting and powerful Scribing system to master”, and a limited-time event that can deliver “an epic multi-rider mount”. The catch to the latter is that you’ll have to not only buy Gold Road, but also try out the Scribing system, though that doesn’t sound like much of a catch.

Scribing System 

• Scribing is an all-new system introduced with Gold Road that allows players to craft and customize their abilities using unique scripts to perfectly fit their playstyle and build. Whether players are looking for greater power, versatility, or roleplay opportunities, Scribing is a powerful new way to tailor their ESO experience.

West Weald Zone 

• Located along Cyrodiil’s southwest border and neighboring Valenwood and the Gold Coast, the Gold Road Chapter allows players to explore West Weald, a wealthy Imperial province that hasn’t been explored sinceThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Within this new zone, players can explore the city of Skingrad and emergent Dawnwood, where they will discover a host of new side quests, world bosses, delves, public dungeons, and more. New Rewards, Improvements, and More 

• The Gold Road Chapter is full of new and unique Achievements, items, and collectibles, including 10 powerful item sets, three unique Mythic items, fragments for the all-new Tales of Tribute patron deck, as well as a new type of collectible, called Skill Styles. Gold Road also features a new 12-player group trial, Lucent Citadel. 

Update 42 For All ESO Players 

• Launching alongside Gold Road is Update 42; this free update introduces a series of base-game improvements. In-game mail receives an overhaul focused on its interface and notifications, and introduces the Adventure Across a Decade Achievement, celebrating ESO’s 10-Year Anniversary by granting the “Fractured Glory” skin for completing questlines spanning some of ESO‘s most memorable adventures to date, including Gold Road.
