Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, arriving in June, gets a gorgeous new trailer

There’s a darkness once again falling on the land in Elden Ring, as the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion takes aim at a June launch.

A blockbuster that took the video-gaming world by storm two years ago, FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin’s Elden Ring hasn’t seemed to wane all that much in popularity. There’s still plenty of talk about the dark fantasy title online. Far from resting on those laurels though, FromSoftware is back this year with a brand new Elden-adventure.

Not a standalone game this time, Shadow of the Erdtree is an expansion for the base game. It sends players into an even darker realm, to follow in the footsteps of one “Miquella”, though the Land of Shadow…

The Land of Shadow.
 
A place obscured by the Erdtree.
Where the goddess Marika first set foot.
 
A land purged in an unsung battle.
Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame.
 
It was to this land that Miquella departed.
Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage.

Golden launch blitz

While Shadow of the Erdtree is ‘just’ an expansion pack, FromSoftware is treating it like a full release. That means more than a bit of fanfare, and several editions that fans will have to choose from. But don’t get us wrong here either, you can still grab a download of the pack online. The thing is though, if you’re a big time Elden Ring adherent, you might want to have a peek at one of the Premium Editions, or maybe even the Collector’s Edition.

Base Editions

• ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree – the standard version of the expansion, available digitally on all platforms.

Premium Editions

• Premium Bundle – includes the ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and comes with digital art book and digital soundtrack bonus content for the expansion. Available digitally on all platforms.
• Deluxe Edition – includes the ELDEN RING base game, the ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and comes with digital art books and digital soundtracks for both the base game and the expansion. Available digitally on all platforms.

Collector’s Edition (Limited Quantity) 

• ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree Collector’s Edition – includes a single voucher code of the selected platform for the ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and comes with a (46cm) statue of “Messmer the Impaler,” 40-page physical art book, and digital soundtrack.
