Planet Zoo to cut the ribbon on consoles in March

Jurassic World developer Frontier Developments’ PC zoo sim Planet Zoo is making its way to consoles soon.

You bought a zoo

That’s just what you’ll be saying to yourself if you pick up a copy of Zoo Tycoon: Console Edition, when it arrives on consoles this March. Yeah it’s been a while, but Frontier Developments’ sim is finally making its way to Xbox Series X|S and PS5, and it’ll be packing 4 years of additional content with it.

That’s correct, this looks like it’s going to be one jumbo animal park, loaded with what sounds like all of the “features, content, and animals” that the game’s been updated with, post-launch. That’s not to say that it’ll have the DLC packs included, as those are separate animals. But the core game has been updated a number of times since it dropped, and all of that stuff will be packed in.

Featuring an incredible array of animals who think, feel, and explore the habitats you create around them, Planet Zoo allows players to nurture and learn about an array of species as they construct, customise, and manage the world’s wildest zoos using intuitive console controls.

Budding zookeepers can test their skills across four engaging game modes: Career, Franchise, Challenge, and Sandbox. Deep management allows players to focus on the bigger picture, or control the smallest details to ensure animals, staff, and guests can thrive, in a world where animal welfare and conservation comes first.

With piece-by-piece construction, unique themes, and hundreds of building components, creating stunning zoos from the comfort of a sofa has never been easier. Players can also join a connected community with console cross-platform sharing via Frontier Workshop, with habitats, scenery, and even whole zoos available to download and share.

Frontier Developments press release

Planet Zoo: Console Edition will ship in three different versions. Of course, there’s the standard, but then there’ll also be a Deluxe Edition ($59.99 USD) that’ll include “16 additional animals and two additional scenarios, which transport players to both the heart of the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia and rich, vibrant wetlands”. Then there’s the Ultimate Edition ($119.99 USD), which will have all of the stuff from the Deluxe, plus the Season Pass, which will have “access to 14 future console DLC packs”.

Want even more Zoo? Well then you’re going to want to pre-order a copy for either the Xbox Series X|S or PS5. Doing so will include three exclusive animals, with the the Pygmy Hippopotamus, Komodo Dragon, and Thomson’s Gazelle all packed in.
