Dune: Part Two premiers in IMAX on February 25th, tickets now on sale

With a February “Fan First” premier planned for IMAX theaters, the long-awaited Dune: Part Two has tickets on sale right now.

Back to the sands

Oft referred to as the best way to see movies in the modern age, the IMAX showings of Dune: Part Two should be typically incredible. Actually, maybe a little more than what you’d “typically” be expecting from the format, as the entire movie was shot with IMAX-certified digital cameras. As such, Dune: Part Two will feature the exclusive “Expanded Aspect Ratio” throughout. No, not just for select scenes, for the entire movie.

Fans will be able to see the action in the IMAX-exclusive 1.90:1 aspect ratio, but there are more twists to this one. Some IMAX theaters will be showing it in 1:43 aspect, and a super-limited number of theaters worldwide will be displaying it in IMAX 15/70mm film format. When we say “super-limited” too, we mean it, as that version will only be showing in 12 movie houses globally.

The action starts on February 25th, 2024, when the Fan First Premier takes place at 7pm. From there it’s set to be a little bit of a wait, as the movie officially opens in IMAX theaters on March 1st. So if you’re a big fan of what director Denis Villeneuve is doing with the Dune series, you might want to aim for that show on the 25th.

The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. This follow‐up film will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
