The Gran Turismo movie hits disc-based formats next month, out now on digital

One of the more surprising films to be based on a vide game of any kind, Gran Turismo is racing to home video.

Starting line

Did you catch Gran Turismo in theaters this past summer? The star-studded movie was a bit of a different take when it comes to video game-based fare, for the simple fact that it was based on a true story. And no, we’re not talking about the storyline from the Gran Turismo games… since there isn’t one.

Instead, the critically-acclaimed Sony Pictures production centered on a man who’s arguably the title game’s most famous player, one who turned his obsession into a real-world career as a driver.

Gran Turismo is based on the unbelievable true story of a team of unlikely underdogs – a struggling working-class gamer (Archie Madekwe), a failed former racecar driver (David Harbour), and an idealistic motorsport executive (Orlando Bloom). Together, they risk it all to take on the most elite sport in the world. Gran Turismo is an inspiring, thrilling, and action-packed story that proves that nothing is impossible when you’re fueled from within.
