Formerly FIFA, EA’s new “FC” series serves up some soccer action on Switch this week. That’s plus Disgaea, RotT, and more.

Licensing goes ‘poof’

Now, if you’re not looped in, you might be wondering what the heck happened to the FIFA name on EA’s yearly soccer title. We’re not all that “looped in” on it either, but basically (and as we understand it) dropping the title came down to a licensing disagreement with the organization in question.

But although the name is different, the sports title looks more or less the same as it has. So as long as you’re cool with seeing the branding altered, you should find the same spirit (not to mention the Frostbite Engine) behind it. Other than that big name though, there’s quite a bit to be excited about in this week’s Nintendo Download.

The week also brings strategic RPG Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless, puzzle/adventure game Cocoon, aRPG Silent Hope, and a massive list of smaller titles and indie launches. Included there are retro FPS’ Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition and Forgive Me Father, and Gothic Classic.

EA SPORTS FC 24 – EA SPORTS FC 24 is a new era for The World’s Game, with a revolutionized Frostbite Engine powering the most true-to-football experience ever. Silent Hope – Seven wordless warriors must work together to find the reclusive King. In this action RPG, you’ll explore the Abyss and its ever-changing dungeons with seven silent heroes, each with their own abilities and fighting styles. After each dungeon run, you’ll return with your treasures and craft better equipment to dive deeper and grow stronger, leveling up your heroes to tackle the challenging bosses lurking in the depths. Silent Hope launches on Nintendo Switch Oct. 3.
