TMNT: Mutant Mayhem mutates onto home video tomorrow

Just out in theaters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is already coming to home video, and it’s landing tomorrow.

Already?

Yes, already. Home video launches seem to be getting closer and closer to theatrical releases, and in the case of the latest Ninja Turtles flick, that’s tomorrow. Featuring some impressive animation, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem debuted in theaters on August 2nd, and it’ll be making the leap to digital formats tomorrow, on September 1st.

If you missed its run in theaters, then you skipped what was a radical overhaul of TMNT lore and characters. Whether it was too much is kind of up to the individual fan, though even with a slim box office take of just $144 million USD globally (according to Box Office Mojo), we’re going to be seeing lots more of Mutant Mayhem’s TMNT universe.

The movie was green-lit for a sequel before its original run was completed, and will be getting a spinoff cartoon as well. With that in mind, and if you’re a big fan of the source material already but missed it in cinemas, it might be worth checking out the flick at home just to see where the new story starts.

After years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

  • TEENage Mutant Ninja Turtles— For the first time the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are voiced by actual teenagers! Hear how each Turtle was cast and how having all four boys record together helped create the authentic camaraderie seen on screen.
  • The Mutant Uprising— Get to know the Turtles’ mutant antagonists, led by the wild and original character Superfly, voiced by Ice Cube.
  • New York, New York: The Visual World of MUTANT MAYHEM— Take a deep dive into the breakthrough visual style of the film’s characters and environments and how they evolved over time.
  • Learn to Draw Leo—Try your hand at drawing the Turtle leader with this fun tutorial!

Paramount Pictures press release

No word yet on a disc-based launch, though you can probably expect that to be along at some point as well. We’ll keep you posted.
