Turbo Overkill goes final today, dropping two part finale

A monster of an FPS, Apogee and Trigger Happy’s cyberpunk “boomer shooter” Turbo Overkill has finally hit full retail.

If you’ve been following along with Turbo Overkill, then you know just how cool today’s news is. The game has gone final after a little over a year in Early Access form, while it’s built itself up into an absolute epic of lighting fast action, and stunning retro(ish) visuals.

Packing a total of three episodes of action, Turbo Overkill loads up with a massive two part finale that follows anti-hero Johnny Turbo. No ordinary man, Johnny is a cyborg and that opens up some interesting gameplay options. But while he has his arsenal and chainsaw attachments with upgrades aplenty, Johnny will also find himself using vehicles in his campaign to eradicate an AI called Syn.

In the case of episode 3, part 2, that includes both overdrafts and mechs.

Enter the neon-lit hellscape known as Paradise, a city under siege at the hands of Syn, a ruthless artificial intelligence hivemind and its army of brainwashed minions. Blast and chainsaw a path towards redemption as half-man half-machine antihero Johnny Turbo, and embark on a hyper-fast race to collect the bounty on Syn’s virtual head before other hunters get there first.

The Final Episode, Part 2 cranks up the blood-soaked intensity with the conclusion of Turbo Overkill. Commandeer hovercrafts and mechs, and hop aboard spaceships across three final levels with reflex-testing boss battles. Bounty hunt solo or with a friend in lobby code co-op multiplayer as the quest to clean up corruption evolves into a world-saving cosmic escapade, or Rebuild Paradise from the ground up with the included custom level editor and full mod support through Steam Workshop.

Ready to run and gun, and put Syn away for good? Turbo Overkill is out now for the PC, via Steam and GOG. If you’re into the game’s cybernetic tale too, keep an eye out for the prequel comic. Turbo Overkill “Episode Zero” is coming up from Venom writer Scott Faye, and will feature cover art from Deadpool and Invincible penciler Dave Johnson.
