Quake II returns in remastered form, with a brand a new Mission Pack

Fresh from QuakeCon, comes the long awaited remaster of Quake II. The FPS now boasts an updated look and tons of content.

Quaking again

Almost immediately after Bethesda and id delivered a Quake remaster in 2021, fans started wondering how many years off a Quake II refresh might be. While it didn’t happen in ’22, we now have our answer as QuakeCon 2023 has indeed given the fans what they wanted. And as remastered go, Quake II’s is pretty great.

Not only does the game now deliver updated visuals with 4K and widescreen support, but it’s also packed with bonus content. Quake II includes the full base game, plus Quake II 64 (the N64 version of Quake II), the two original Mission Packs, and a brand new one with Call of the Machine. Crafted by developer MachineGames, the 28 level-deep expansion sends players on a quest to smash a new super-weapon created by the alien Strogg.

Quake II is out right now for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, plus the Switch and PC. Naturally it’s also a part of Game Pass, so if you have a subscription then you’re free to download and play the first-person classic right now.
