Survival horror title Conscript bringing the terrors of war to PC in 2024

Just signed to Team17’s stable, Catchweight Studio’s Conscript is set to bring the brutal nature of WWI war-fighting to life in 2024.

Real fear

When does a ‘survival horror’ game not need monsters and creeps from beyond to be effective? According to Catchweight Studio and its new publisher Team17, it’s when it’s based in WWI. Judging from the first look at this new retro(ish) title, it’s easy to imagine that’s exactly the case.

The title, from a one-man Australian studio, casts players as a French soldier on the front lines of World War 1. Scavenging for supplies and ammo, your mission is a simple one: find your brother and make it out of the trenches of Verdun alive.

Simple though, does not mean easy.

Set in 1916 during the Great War, CONSCRIPT blends the punishing mechanics of classic horror titles into a cohesive, tense, and original survival horror experience. In CONSCRIPT players explore the trenches of Verdun as a lone French soldier searching for his missing-in-action brother to ensure a home goes unbroken.

Plan. Explore. Survive. Players will dive into the madness of war, engage in brutal combat against enemy soldiers, manage limited supplies, and solve complex environmental puzzles.

Team17 press release

There’s no release date just yet for Conscript, but you can look for it to arrive on the PC some time in 2024.
