AMC had itself a spooky Comic Con this past weekend, with loads of new The Walking Dead content, and a bit of Anne Rice too.
Zombies and vampires
If you’re a fan of The Walking Dead, you have to be in zombie-heaven right now. The TV series that started it all for AMC’s adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic series might be over, but in its place are no less than three new shows. Well, two new shows and one returning.
The network showcased all three of those though, this past weekend in San Diego. Fans were treated to trailers and teases for all of them, along with a “watch party”, hosted by TV Guide’s Damian Holbrook in the famed Hall H. But if you weren’t there, don’t fret, as we’ve got all of the new looks for you right here, and it all stars with a look at the new series that focuses on arguably the most popular Dead character, Daryl Dixon.
In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the title character finds himself across the Atlantic, in France. The long journey only gives way to partial respite though, with Daryl finding himself in a safe zone led by a holy order, and one that believes they’ve got a boy who’s destined to resurrect humanity.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to debut this September 10th, on AMC and AMC+. Look for it to air at 9pm eastern (8pm central), and while you’re at it, you can also look for it to do so for some time to come. Despite not yet launching officially, Daryl has already been confirmed for a season two.
Trailer not enough for you? Then head over to AMC+ and you can gobble up the first 10 minutes of the premier episode right now.
Fear the Walking Dead
While Daryl Dixon is a premier, Fear the Walking Dead makes its return to TV to close things out. Believe it or not, this will be season 8B of the show, which started airing during the run of the original TWD, and is now set to wrap up its tale with six all new episodes.
Fear the Walking Dead season 8B begins on October 22nd, at 9pm (8pm central) on AMC and AMC+.
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
So we’ve got one Dead beginning while another is ending, but there’s still more. Another new show will focus on more alumni from the original, with Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira once again taking up the roles of Rick and Michonne.
Details are really light on this one, as it’s still a ways off, and set to debut in 2024. But even so, AMC did share a short blood-red teaser, that should get fans pumped.
While we’re talking Dead too, don’t forget that The Walking Dead: Dead City is airing right now, following the adventures of The Walking Dead’s Maggie and Negan, as they make their way through a very rotten NYC.
Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire
Not to be overshadowed too much by the tidal wave of walkers, is AMC’s other horror series, the supernatural Interview with the Vampire. Debuting in 2022, Interview is rolling into season 2, and featured pretty large at the Con.
Along with the sneak peek at the new season, there was a full-on activation offsite, in the heart of San Diego. There fans could get up close and personal with some of the show’s vampiric elements, on the “Street of Immortality”.
But if you couldn’t make the Con, have no worries, as the show hasn’t yet begun. Interview with the Vampire season 2 debuts on AMC and AMC+ in 2024.
