The big summer swimsuit special returns to DC Comics

DC is bringing back a 90s comic book staple; the swimsuit issue. Get ready for some sand and sun, in G’nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Edition (really).

Remember G’Nort? He’s back.

A pretty steady Green Lantern throughout DC Comics’ history, G’Nort is a dog-like alien who serves in the Corps. Here in 2023 though, he’s got another job. Yep, he’s set to be the host of DC Comics’ upcoming G’nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, and as those go, this one’s kind of interesting.

Not solely a collection of pinups, G’nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Edition will hold a couple of actual stories. Those will include one from Steve Orlando and Paul Pelletier that’s centered on upcoming movie stars Midnighter and Apollo, as well as an 8 page Penguin story from Julie Benson and Shawna Benson, Meghan Hetrick, “and more”. And yes, the latter will have Ozzie in a swimsuit. Do with that what you will.

As for the rest of the issue, it’ll be loaded with art from the likes of:

Amanda Conner, Paul Pelletier, Nicola Scott, Mikel Janín, Jeff Dékal, Daniel Sampere, Gleb Melnikov, Derrick Chew, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Emanuela Lupacchino, Joëlle Jones, Megan Huang, Terry Dodson, Babs Tarr, Pete Woods, Joe Quinones, Hélène Lenoble, Otto Schmidt, Michael Allred, Sweeney Boo, David Talaski, Jenny Frison, and others

DC Comics press release

G’nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Edition will be in stores this August the 23rd, and will feature a main cover by Vasco Georgiev, as well as cardstock variants from the great J. Scott Campbell and Adam Hughes, and a “1:25 variant cover” by Pablo Villalobos.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
