Check out the blood-soaked opening moments of Dead Island 2

It’s blood and gore aplenty for the long-awaited sequel to Dead Island, as Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios’ zombie apocalypse is almost here.

Those with decent memories will remember the original Dead Island for a number of things. Granted the majority of those involve the game itself, but the game made maybe its biggest impact with its teaser trailer. Release well in advance of the game, it was dramatic, brutal, unforgiving in its horror, and just incredibly well made.

Now, today’s video release isn’t a teaser for DI2, as we’ve seen plenty of the sequel already. And some of those looks have been much more than a tease, as we’ve met the cast too. So instead of just another trailer, publisher Deep Silver has unveiled the actual opening to the title’s campaign.

Discover a Los Angeles now stained with blood and flooded with the undead as you immerse yourself in Dead Island 2’s unique pulp tone in preparation for a one-way ticket to HELL-A. View a deserted, viscera-drenched Hollywood Boulevard and the empty mansions of the rich and famous in Bel Air. Visit what was once known as the City of Angels and see what gory details await you in sunny, zombie-infested HELL-A.

Deep Silver press release

No zombies, no heroes, and no action really, yet this intro still packs in plenty of what fans can expect from the final game. Hell-A looks like a wasteland, one overrun with scenes of former life and the leftovers of a horrific event.

Ready to wade knee deep into the dead? Dead Island 2 arrives on April 21st, 2023.
