A packed cover illustration for the ages, Marvel’s celebration for the 700th issue of Fantastic Four is just about as fantastic as you can get.
A universe of characters
Comics fans have seen loaded covers before. You know the ones, with a whole mess of heroes and villains on ’em, usually marking a special issue or occasion. Both of those descriptors do indeed fit for Fantastic Four’s 700th issue, but one look at the illustration in question will tell you it’s something special.
From Scott Koblish, the cover is set for issue #7 of the current FF run, which so happens to be the 700th issue of the book overall. I think you’d be hard-pressed to scan this wraparound cover and find anybody missing too, as it seems to have pretty much everybody ever associated with Marvel’s First Family.
A wraparound connecting cover that will adorn both May’s FANTASTIC FOUR #7 and June’s FANTASTIC FOUR #8, this massive piece features over 700 characters, each one having appeared in a prior issue of FANTASTIC FOUR. Featuring the Fantastic Four’s fellow super heroes, past members, loyal allies, and of course, their iconic villains, this epic assembly serves as a monument to the team’s unparalleled legacy and their undeniable impact on the Marvel Universe they helped shape!
“I’ve been a big fan of the Fantastic Four since I was a little kid, so not only was it an honor to draw this cover, but it was a dream come true to scroll through every issue of FANTASTIC FOUR ever,” Koblish said. “I hope I was able to convey all of the sheer joy, wonder, and boundless creativity that the Fantastic Four have embodied for six decades and I hope it continues to be a shining beacon for decades to come.”
Marvel Comics press release
So that’s the cover, but the issue itself will be from Ryan North and Iban Coello. You’ll be able to grab a copy for yourself this May with that #7 issue of FF. It’s kind of unclear as to what June #8 will have across it, though again it does say it’ll be “wraparound connecting”, so I guess use your imagination.
