Udon prepping a Street Fighter 6 onslaught for May

There’s going to be one heck of a lot of Street Fighter 6 in comics shops come this May, as Udon will have a new book in stores every week.

Almost time

Well here we are in February of 2023 and the next Street Fighter title from Capcom is finally just about ready. For those not in the know, the publisher is targeting a June release for the long-awaited Street Fighter 6, and there’s going to be a good deal of merchandising surrounding that launch.

Part of that will be in the comics realm, with comic book publisher Udon absolutely stacking the lead-in month. A new issue of the Street Fighter 6 Prequel Comic Book Series will arrive every week this May, building the hype to a fever pitch for the one-on-one fightin’ to come.

Capcom Japan artists Bengus and Chisato Mita will be diving into the first of those issues, with Udon’s own Genzoman, Hanzo, and Panzer handling the rest. Those would be issues #0, 2, and 3. Oh, and if you dig variant covers, don’t worry because Udon’s got you… covered.

“This is the first time that we’re doing this kind of comic book series that’s closely tied to the story of the main game,” says Street Fighter 6 game director Takayuki Nakayama in an exclusive interview at GameInformer.com! “We’re working very closely with our partners at UDON. We’re providing the script and the storyline of what to expect before the events of Street Fighter 6…!”

In addition to the above, look for the SF6 festivities to kick off on Free Comic Book Day, May 6th 2023. That’s when Udon’s Street Fighter 6 #0 arrives, with a story by Capcom itself and Matt Moylan, art from Genzoman, and a cover from Edwin Huang.

The actual ‘retail’ issues start running on the 10th, with issue #1. Look for #2 on May 17th, #3 on the 24th, and #4 on the 31st.
