Street Fighter 6 is coming to consoles and PC some time in 2023, but before the game arrives, you can look for a brand new comics series from Udon.
The fight continues
If you’re a Street Fighter fan already, then you know all about Udon. A publisher of books and comics, Udon has rocked the Capcom license for years, with a whole mess of fine examples of both form factors. So of course, with the upcoming arrival of a sixth Street Fighter game, you better believe there’s a comic series coming.
But even before we get to that, there’s that ‘0 issue’ to discuss. Set for release as a part of Free Comic Book Day, Street Fighter 6 #0 will effectively turn the planned 4 issue mini-series into a 5 issue set. It’ll be a “prelude” to the main series’ action, so if you’re looking to get into that, then you’re going to want this.
This book will be a legendary release for Street Fighter fans, acting as a direct prelude to the story and lore of the upcoming Street Fighter 6 game from Capcom! This #0 will kick off the four-issue limited series (now five issues!) with art and story by Capcom and the UDON crew, including Edwin Huang, Matt Moylan, and Genzoman on issue #0. The release schedule for following issues will be announced soon!
“This is the first time that we’re doing this kind of comic book series that’s closely tied to the story of the main game,” says Street Fighter 6 game director Takayuki Nakayama in an exclusive interview at GameInformer.com. “We’re working very closely with our partners at UDON. We’re providing the script and the storyline of what to expect before the events of Street Fighter 6. They’re going to be helping us to create the storylines. Beyond that, they’re even working into possible spin-offs as well, and collaborating with the scriptwriters on the team, so there may be more stuff beyond just the initial comic book series.”
