NBA 2K22 hits Xbox Game Pass today

With the NBA playoffs in full swing, it’s a particularly nice treat to get NBA 2K22 added to Microsoft’s Game Pass service on the Xbox.

Just in time of the playoffs

If you missed NBA 2K22 when it released last fall, it’s just the latest in a series of terrific basketball titles from 2K. The game improved on its predecessor from almost every angle.

It not only looked better, but played better (and easier) than the previous year’s installment. The pick-up-and-playability of it was a marked improvement, even for lapsed fans. And beyond that, 2K22 also delivered the now-expected tidal wave of modes and general things to do.

And now it’s free. Well, sort of. It’s free to download and play if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber. As was just announced by 2K, the latest NBA title is now a part of Microsoft’s service, meaning subscribers can dig in and ball to their hearts content, and just in time for the meat of the NBA playoffs.

As with most additions to Game Pass, 2K22 seems fully playable as well. That means online play as well as off, plus modes like MyCAREER, The City, and MyTEAM. That last mode is in season 6 right now as well, and should be up to date for new players.

You can catch NBA 2K22 as of today, April 28th, on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
