TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge to feature original ‘toons voice cast, physical editions

Check out a ton of new gameplay footage for Dotemu and Tribute Games’ TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, along with some new details.

Turtles in time

Step into the wayback machine for a minute, and set that dial for 1988, because the classic Turtles are back. That courtesy of Dotemu and Tribute Games, as the companies’ newest promises to be a pure nostalgia trip.

We’ve already seen what Shredder’s Revenge looks like in action, and if you haven’t, then you need to. A side-scrolling beat ’em up, the game is a callback to the greatest Turtles titles of all time. It look like it’d have fit right in with the original Arcade Game and Turtles in Time. And now it’s going to sound like it too.

In a fresh batch of news just released, Dotemu says that the original voice cast has returned to voice their roles from the classic cartoon. That means “Cam Clarke returning as Leonardo, Townsend Coleman as Michelangelo, Barry Gordon as Donatello, and Rob Paulsen as Raphael”.

Fresh extended gameplay finds the Turtles kicking Foot Clan shell throughout the first two stages of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, thrashing foes as they tour their favorite, iconic stops across Manhattan including the Channel 6 studio and the streets of New York.

Dotemu press release

Aside from the cast, there’s news about physical editions of new game as well. According to Dotemu, boxed copies will arrive at retail thanks to a set of publishing deals. Those include “Limited Run Games in the U.S., Merge Games in Europe, Happinet Corporation in Japan, and H2 Interactive across Asia”. So it sounds like you’ll probably be able to get a copy no matter where in the world you live.

One last thing too, and that’s that the game is apparently playable right now. No, it’s not out yet, but if you’re going to be at PAX East starting today. You’ll be able to play Shredder’s Revenge at booth #12043 on the show floor, the 21st through the 24th.

Watch for the game to hit wide release some time this summer.
