March 22’s Xbox Games with Gold lives in the past

Let’s be honest, Games with Gold isn’t the most current of free games services these days. This month’s version really showcases that.

Uh, classics… ?

If you’re an Xbox gamer, then you know that the platform offers some great options. Other than the games themselves, Xbox of course has Game Pass. The ‘play all you want’ subscription rotates a selection of 100 games, including many brand new titles, that land day and date with their retail launches.

But in the wake of Game Pass, Microsoft’s Games with Gold suffered mightily. Serving up a quartet of monthly freebies, GwG used to be pretty great, but as of late, well, it isn’t. And this month is a microcosm of that.

That’s not to say that the games are bad, because there are few good ones here. Regardless though, they’re all pretty old, and none of them are going to make you rush to your console and hit the download.

Nevertheless, they are free (as long as you’re a subscriber), and I guess there’s still something to be said for that.
