Trailer: A familiar ‘secret code’ reappears in new retro title Infernax

Remember the “Konami Code”, from the days of the NES? If you do, then you’ll be happy to know that it’s back (and awesome), this time for Infernax.

Get me Mad Dog… and Scorpion!

Infernax, a blood-splattered action adventure from publisher The Arcade Crew and developer Berzerk Studio, channels the spirit of the Zelda and Castlevania games of olde. But this homage to the NES greats pays tribute to more than just classic adventures …

Recalling one of gaming’s most famous codes at the title screen trades the mace of Infernax‘s starring knight out for a devastating machine gun. Arming players with 30 lives, unique skills, and of course jump flips, this impressively detailed easter egg lets sharpshooters blast through Infernax‘s entire campaign with firepower reminiscent of Contra.

Berzerk Studio press release

How cool is that? Of course, it’ll kind of nerf the game to a degree, but who’s not up for blasting a bunch of demons and monsters with a machine gun?

Complete with “up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A”, Infernax arrives on the PC and Xbox One (plus Game Pass), as well as the PS4, and Switch on February 14th. Happy Valentine’s Day!
